Franklyn Trailer Is Strange And Wonderful!

IGN has posted the trailer for Franklyn, a film I know very little about but want very much to see now after viewing this trailer. It played at the London Film Festival back in October and currently has a February 20th release date in the U.K., but no distributor for the U.S. yet. I will be both extremely sad and surprised if this doesn’t find its way over here eventually, though. The film is written and directed by newcomer Gerald McMorrow and stars Eva Green, Ryan Phillippe, Sam Riley, and Bernard Hill. IMDb’s synopsis sucked, so here’s the one from Wikipedia:

Franklyn follows four intertwining stories, three of which take place in contemporary London and the fourth takes place in Meanwhile City, a parallel fantasy environment. In Meanwhile City, atheist vigilante Jonathan Preest (Phillippe) fights against the various religious presences. Ultimately, his path crosses with three others (Eva Green, Sam Riley, Bernard Hill) from London

It’s not the best synopsis either, but at least it gives you a vague idea of what you’re in for in this sci fi/fantasy/romance/drama/mystery/noir/who knows what else film. Watch the trailer to get a better sense of just how visually stunning this movie is. I’m loving its aesthetics, and though it looks like it might be just a tad bit overwrought at times, I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt for now. Check out the trailer and tell us what you think!

    it is feb 20. confirmed
  • All the sites I'm coming across (IMDb, Wikipedia, AICN, IGN, etc.) are reporting it as February 20th (except for /film, which reported it as Jan. 30th, though their article was written back in mid-October). And Jan. 20th is a Tuesday. I'm not entirely familiar with release schedules in the U.K., but going off American standards, this would lead me to believe that Feb. 20th is a more likely date. We'll keep digging though, and update you if we find out anything different.
