The Dish: Moonlighting and Breakfast At Tiffany’s Remake?
I’ll admit, Moonlighting was a little before my time. I got to know Bruce Willis not as the charming half of a detective duo, but as John McClane and the star of several other action blockbusters in the ’90s. But over the years, I’ve heard nothing but good things about the Glenn Gordon Caron-created show, which also starred Cybill Shepherd. And now, it looks like fans of the old show may get to see their beloved characters come back for one last spin. Variety blogger Liz Smith is saying that Caron is looking to reunite the stars for a big screen adaptation, and that Willis himself is open to the idea. It’s just early talk right now, but we’ll let you know if any of it comes to fruition.
Meanwhile, the same Variety article also talks of a possible remake of the Audrey Hepburn classic, Breakfast At Tiffany’s. An update has been planned for some time now, but never really got off the ground because, after all, who would fill Hepburn’s iconic shoes as Holly Golightly? It looks like Anne Hathaway may be the one to pull it off, as she certainly seems charmed by the idea. Again, it’s just talk for now, but this is one rumor I wouldn’t mind seeing come true. Normally I’d be against the thought of even attempting to redo a film as unique and timeless as Breakfast At Tiffany’s, but I’m an unabashed Anne Hathaway fan, and I’d also like to see a more faithful adaptation of the Truman Capote novella. Only time will tell if it can even come close to the original, but I’d be willing to pay my 10 bucks to see if it works. How about you guys?
