Casting Bites: Justin Long Going The Distance, Lightning Thief Gets The Girl

Variety reports that Justin Long has been tapped for the male lead in Going the Distance, documentarian Nanette Burstein’s (American Teen) upcoming romantic comedy. The story follows a couple in a long distance relationship who ultimately realize that they’d both be happier dating someone closer to home. Wait, did the logline just summarize the movie? I’m sure there’ll be more to it than that…
Meanwhile, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief has found its female lead. Young up-and-comer Alexandra Daddario will join Logan Lerman (3:10 to Yuma, Meet Bill) and Brandon T. Jackson (Tropic Thunder) in Chris Columbus’s adaptation of Rick Riordan’s best-selling children’s novel. The book (the first in a series of five) follows Percy Jackson (Lerman), the half-human son of Poseidon who embarks on a quest across modern America to prevent a war between the gods. Jackson plays Grover, the satyr that discovers Percy and reveals his lineage to him. Daddario will play Athena’s 18-year-old daughter Annabeth, a warrior at Camp Half-Blood with Percy. Sparks will fly, I presume? Check out the full Hollywood Reporter article here.
