Latino Review gave us the scoop back in February, and now it’s been confirmed: Jackie Earle Haley will take on the role of Freddy Krueger in the redo of Nightmare on Elm Street.

We already loved the directing choice of Sam Bayer, and now we love the lead casting as well. Haley has proved more than capable of filling big shoes, as he nailed the grim gravitas of Rorschach and was one of the best parts of Watchmen. After his turn as a child molester in Little Children and his upcoming performance as a mental patient in Scorsese’s Shutter Island, Haley is cementing himself as one of the hottest actors in Hollywood now. It’s a fantastic turnaround after fading from the limelight in the 1990’s after a promising start as a child actor – and one we’re glad to see happen.
