One of the comic book adpatations that has been bubbling under the radar is Disney’s Surrogates, based on the well-regarded sci fi series by Robert Venditti and Brett Weldele. Set in a futuristic world where people live in isolation and only interact with each other through surrogate robotic life forms, the movie centers on a detective (played by Bruce Willis) who must leave his home for the first time in years to investigate a killer specifically targeting surrogates. Disney released a still from the film late last year, and now Screen Rant has gotten their hands on a viral teaser poster.

The poster is a mock advertisement from Virtual Self, the fictional company that manufactures and sells surrogates in the story’s universe. It mirrors several ads that were included within the pages of the comic itself when it was released in 2005, and bears the subtly unsettling slogan “Life…Only Better.” Directed by Jonathan Mostow, the film also stars Radha Mitchell, Ving Rhames, and Rosamund Pike. Given the talent involved and quality of the source material, I’ve got high hopes for this one. Surrogates is set to be released on September 25, 2009.
