AVATAR Trailer To Precede TRANSFORMERS 2?

We’ve been waiting years for our first look at James Cameron’s Avatar, and thus far, all we have to show for it are some on-set photos. While those did give us an idea of the film’s production design, what everybody really wants to know is how the effects-heavy film actually look like after said effects have been, you know…applied. Well, according to MarketSaw, we may not have to wait much longer.

They’re now reporting numerous sources saying the same thing — that the trailer for Avatar will play before Michael Bay’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on June 26, 2009. If this is true, that means we’ll only have to wait a little over a month to get our first look at the film, which has been in production for the better part of the last few years. The trailer will reportedly be in 3D, though this leaves some unanswered questions, as Transformers 2 is a 2D movie. One option is for theaters to hand out 3D glasses for digital showings of the film, which will be able to project in both 3D and 2D, and the glasses will only be used for the trailer. But with recent squabbles over whether the studios or the theaters should pay for 3D glasses, will exhibitors be willing to pony up the extra cost of glasses just for a single trailer? Hm, I guess we’ll have to wait to see how this one gets sorted out.

In the meantime, check out a fan-made title card for the film. It was originally sent in to MarketSaw as being authentic, but that notion has since been debunked. Oh well, doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy some fan’s best guess of the styling of the titles for Cameron’s highly-anticipated film.
