Hm… I don’t know why, but I have a slightly grotesque fondness for these kinds of movies. Sure, many of them are derivative, trite, and (by now) cliched. But eh… what can I say? I dig seeing a bunch of kids sing/dance/dream their way to a usually-only-vaguely-defined idea of “something greater.” And at least Kevin Tancharoen’s Fame has the draw of a somewhat established fanbase, being a remake of the popular 1980 musical and all.

I gotta say, I’m actually kind of intrigued by this movie now.

The film stars Megan Mullaley, Charles S. Dutton, and Kelsey Grammar, along with a bunch of little-knowners and up-and-comers such as Kherington Payne, Anna Maria Perez de Tagle, Kay Panabaker,Naturi Naughton, Collins Pennie, Cody Longo, and Johanna E. Braddy. It’s due in theaters on Septembe 25th.
