Brody, Whitaker, Wood, And Gigandet Join THE EXPERIMENT
Adrien Brody, Forest Whitaker, Elijah Wood, and Cam Gigandet have joined the cast of The Experiment, the remake of German film Das Experiment.
Inspired by the infamous Stanford prison experiments, the original film followed a group of ordinary men who are recruited to act as prisoners and prison guards in an experimental study examining the effects of assigned roles, power, and control on the participants. Brody would play the de facto leader of the prisoners, while Whitaker portrays a prison guard role-player who goes on a power trip. No word on who Frodo or Volchok would play.
If you were a fan of the original (which was quite good) or like the cast (a pretty solid ensemble) and think we may be in for something special, hold your horses. The Experiment was written and will be directed by Paul Scheuring, also known as the guy behind Prison Break. Given his past work, you can probably expect all subtlety, character nuances, and any hint of deft narrative execution to go out the door. Ha, okay, maybe I’m being too hard on the guy – but consider my eyebrow cocked, my red flag raised, and my skepticism firing on all cylinders. The original was good, the cast is solid, but Prison Break was a weekly exercise in tedious inanity so I’m not holding my breath here.
