French site ArtOfDisney is offering some cool looks at the concept art behind several Disney films, including Hunchback of Notre Dame, Fantasia 2000, Pixar’s Up, and more. One of the recent posts actually gives us a look at more concept art from Tim Burton’s upcoming Alice In Wonderland movie, and it’s some pretty sweet stuff. I especially like the creepy double-exposure feel of the last one. The great thing about concept art is that it lets artists really push the extremes of a certain style in imagining the look for a film. A lot of times the concept art ends up looking a lot more interesting than the final product, but then again it may only work in a still frame format. I mean, if that last image was what Alice looked like in the end, it’d probably give audiences a headache. Still, it’s cool to see where the ideas started from and how they compare to the finished product. Be sure to head on over the ArtOfDisney to see a bunch more from Alice In Wonderland, as well as several other Disney films. The English version of the blog also has a fascinating expose on some of the Disney Artist Greats, so pop on over there to check it out.
