Go Through The Looking Glass In The ALICE IN WONDERLAND Teaser

IGN has debuted the trailer for Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, starring Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Crispin Glover, and Anne Hathaway. The IGN page seems to have gone missing, though, so here’s an embed from YouTube.

If the look of the characters or the concept art hadn’t tipped you off yet, Burton’s vision for this world is indeed very stylized. And based on some of the early reactions to the teaser, it looks like this film will suffer from some of the same criticisms Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory did — namely, that it’s all too…well, just too much.

I do still think Depp’s Hatter looks a bit outlandish, and the final product may in fact be dripping with too much paint, but for now I can appreciate Burton’s colorful palette and wild imaginings of Lewis Carroll’s world. And after all, anyone who’s read the books or seen the animated Disney film should already expect a certain kind of head trip when coming into this world. It’s only fair that Burton gets his own shot at the bizarre, at least until we see how the whole film cuts together.

Alice in Wonderland hits in Disney Digital 3D on March 5, 2010.
