Sam Worthington Becomes A TOURIST With Charlize Theron
Charlize Theron and Sam Worthington have signed on for the thriller remake The Tourist, based on the 2005 French film Anthony Zimmer written and directed by Jerome Salle.
Theron has been attached to the project for some time now, back when Tom Cruise was looking to star alongside her. Worthington now replaces Cruise, who decided to do James Mangold’s untitled project instead. The story follows a female Interpol agent who is chasing a mastermind criminal that has just undergone massive plastic surgery to change his appearance. His only known associate is his constantly-surveilled mistress, whom he instructs to use an unsuspecting American tourist as bait to mislead his enemies. Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day and The Crow: Salvation director Bharat Nalluri is helming the project.
Worthington’s about as in-demand as they come these days, with the Aussie actor involved in all sorts of high-profile projects. He broke out with American audiences this past summer with Terminator Salvation, and has the highly anticipated Avatar coming up while he finishes shooting the Clash of the Titans remake. His pairing with Theron here is definitely reason to get excited, though the plot sounds a little too tedious at first glance. We’ll see how things shape up as production gets underway.
