THE WOLFMAN Trailer And Stills
Universal has finally released the trailer for The Wolfman, starring Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt, and Hugo Weaving. Check it out below, or head on over to Yahoo to catch it in HD (and stick around for some stills, too!):
The production of Wolfman has hit its fair share of snags, and even though there have been doubters since Joe Johnston stepped in to replace Mark Romanek as director, the footage here is promising. It’s moody and ominous, and shows plenty of confidence in its direction. The mix of practical effects and CG for the Wolfman himself looks fantastic, especially in the transformation scenes. So far, I’m really digging what I see.
The story seems to be a bit more sprawling since the last script I read, which I would attribute to David Self’s work on it. The last draft I’d seen had Andrew Kevin Walker as the sole writer, and the tale was a lot narrower in its focus. The trailer hints at some twists and turns which weren’t there before, in particular the sanitarium sequences, but it all looks like fun stuff. More monster-ing is always welcome. Oh, and here are the stills:
The update to the classic tale was originally scheduled for a February release date this year, but it was then pushed to April, and then again to November 6. Now, the official release date is February 12, 2010, almost a full year after its initial release. Let’s hope they’ve settled down on the release this time.
