THE CRAZIES Trailer
I was originally going to post the trailer for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s new movie Tooth Fairy, but I changed my mind. Despite the fact that I’m a huge fan of Dwayne Johnson as both a wrestler and an actor, and that up until now I’ve been willing to watch him in anything he does, I have to be honest – Tooth Fairy looks just plain awful. Even Billy Crystal in a supporting role can’t entice me into a theater to see that. So instead, here’s the trailer for The Crazies, which actually looks pretty good.
It’s a remake of George Romero’s 1973 horror classic, starring the very watchable Timothy Olyphant, Radha Mitchell, Joe Anderson, and Danielle Panabaker. I find horror remakes especially tend to fall into two categories: the very “meh” and the surprisingly good. Based on what I’ve seen, I’m pulling for The Crazies to land in the latter category. Check out the trailer after the jump.
You can also catch it in HD over at Apple:
A very effective use of Michael Andrews and Gary Jules’ cover of Mad World, if you ask me. Strange how creepy their version is, especially considering what a groovy dance the original Tears for Fears video had (it’s about 2 minutes in). Anyway, the blurb for The Crazies goes a little something like this:
A husband and wife in a small Midwestern town find themselves battling for survival as their friends and family descend into madness in The Crazies. A mysterious toxin in the water supply turns everyone exposed to it into mindless killers and the authorities leave the uninfected to their certain doom in this terrifying reinvention of the George Romero horror classic.
Sounds like fun. The Crazies hits theaters on February 26, 2010, which is just over a month after Tooth Fairy. Which I won’t be watching. Okay, maybe I’ll catch it on DVD. Oh boy… the only consolation I have here is that after yet another forgettable family-friendly flick, The Rock’s finally getting back into action movies.
