If you caught The Book of Eli this past weekend, you were treated to Denzel Washington unleashing some righteous ass-whoopings. Good times all around.

But The Book of Eli was a lot more than your run-of-the-mill action flick. It had atmosphere and heart, and pulsated with grimness and hope. Part of what made it such a potent vision of faith in a post-apocalyptic future was Atticus Ross’ haunting and powerful score.
