Oh Yeah! Second KICK-ASS Trailer! by Ryan on 8 Jan 2010 | Comments

Lionsgate has released a second trailer for Kick-Ass, this one showing off the film’s action while remaining suitable for all audiences. And you know what? It still kicks ass. We get a sense of the kooky, crazy fun that Matthew Vaughn’s movie is promising to be, and the real shit-your-pants stuff is hinted at just enough to entice. It introduces all of the key players with a tongue-in-cheek sense of humor about it all that makes these otherwise outlandish characters seem (mostly) believable. Even a sword-wielding little girl that’ll literally leave you in pieces? You better believe it.

While Aaron Johnson is going to get his fair share of shine after the movie, I think it’s safe to say that the real breakout star is going to be Chloe Moretz with her turn as Hit-Girl. After stealing scenes in (500) Days of Summer, and with the upcoming Let the Right One In remake Let Me In coming out on October 10th, she’s poised to have a big 2010. And this isn’t even counting her appearances in the kid-friendly fare she has in the pipeline either (i.e. Diary of a Wimpy Kid). With her anchoring the supporting cast along with Nicolas Cage, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Clark Duke, and Mark Strong, Kick-Ass is looking to take names when it hits this spring.

One-Sheet Wonders: INCEPTION, KICK-ASS, EDGE OF DARKNESS by Ryan on 17 Dec 2009 | Comments

Three new posters have been released, all for films we’re very excited for here at c, vt. Check them out after the jump.

The first is for Christopher Nolan’s Inception. The film is still more or less shrouded in mystery, but we’re starting to hear hints and whispers that it will involve a technology that allows a person to enter someone else’s mind, dreams, etc. to poke around for various reasons. In either case, it’s got an absolutely stellar cast and c’mon, it’s Christopher Nolan. I need no other reason to see this movie. But if that’s not enough for you, we’ve got a new poster to show off, courtesy of the film’s official site. If it recalls the poster for The Dark Knight, you’re absolutely right — it does. But does it mean anything? I don’t think so, but people are speculating…

The next one is the last character banner for Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass, and comes courtesy of IGN. It features Chloe Moretz as Hit-Girl, and she’s looking quite…purple.

The last one comes via IMPAwards and is for the Martin Campbell-Mel Gibson revenge thriller Edge of Darkness.

Meet A KICK-ASS Big Daddy by Ryan on 14 Dec 2009 | Comments

A new poster has been unveiled for Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass, this one featuring Nicolas Cage as Big Daddy. His costume is quite reminiscent of Batman’s, but seeing as how this is a semi-tongue-in-cheek spoof of the comic book genre, I think you’ll agree that it’s an intentional sight gag. UGO has the one-sheet, which you can see by clicking on the cropped image below.

They’ve also got a new clip from the film, featuring Big Daddy and Chloe Moretz’s Hit Girl during a training session. If you’re still grouping this film in with your Spider-Mans and your Batmans, this clip oughta tell you pretty succinctly that Kick-Ass is NOT your ordinary comic book movie. Everybody who’s seen this film is calling it the craziest, most enjoyable movie they’ve watched in a long time. I can’t wait. Check out the clip after the jump.

KICK-ASS Teaser Ready To Take Names! by Roy on 11 Nov 2009 | Comments Lionsgate has released a teaser for Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass, the story about a regular teenager who decides one day that he’s going to become a superhero despite having no superpowers whatsoever. Caught on tape stopping an attempted mugging, he suddenly finds himself at the center of an emerging subculture of wannabe superheroes, regular joes dressed up in homemade costumes trying their hand at a little vigilante justice.

Based on the comic by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr., Kick-Ass was independently made by Vaughn and co. before they took it to the studios. The film received an overwhelming response from fans at Comic-Con and early screenings, and Lionsgate subsequently scooped up the distribution rights. What this means is that Vaughn was basically free to make the film as he intended, which is purportedly very faithful to the very graphic, very violent source material. So far, we’ve seen an awesome set of posters and now we get a pretty awesome teaser, too. I definitely feel like a red-band trailer is in the works though, as it seems like this rather sterile (if effective) piece of marketing has got its hands tied behind its back. Hit Girl may look all sweet and sassy now, but she makes one hell of a bloody mess that we haven’t seen yet. Still, it’s got me excited for what’s to come, and I can’t wait to see more footage roll out for this.

One-Sheet Wonders: KICK-ASS Posters Kick Ass, WOLFMAN Goes Black & White by Roy on 9 Nov 2009 | Comments New posters have landed online for both Kick-Ass and The Wolfman. The Kick-Ass ones feature four character posters that compile into one giant awesome banner, while The Wolfman harkens back to its black & white roots with a grainy, spooky shot of Emily Blunt on the run. They’re definitely both pretty neat pieces of movie marketing, and I especially wouldn’t mind the Kick-Ass ones spanning across my apartment walls.
