The first is for Christopher Nolan's Inception. The film is still more or less shrouded in mystery, but we're starting to hear hints and whispers that it will involve a technology that allows a person to enter someone else's mind, dreams, etc. to poke around for various reasons. In either case, it's got an absolutely stellar cast and c'mon, it's Christopher Nolan. I need no other reason to see this movie. But if that's not enough for you, we've got a new poster to show off, courtesy of the film's official site. If it recalls the poster for The Dark Knight, you're absolutely right -- it does. But does it mean anything? I don't think so, but people are speculating...

The next one is the last character banner for Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass, and comes courtesy of IGN. It features Chloe Moretz as Hit-Girl, and she's looking quite...purple.

The last one comes via IMPAwards and is for the Martin Campbell-Mel Gibson revenge thriller Edge of Darkness.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. has been busy on the poster front as well, releasing three brand new ones for Louis Leterrier's Clash of the Titans. The first two show off Sam Worthington as Perseus in a couple of his more well-known moments -- brandishing the head of Medusa and riding the Pegasus. A new still and poster has debuted online for Tron Legacy over at UK site HeyUGuys. I believe this is our first official look at Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde in character, though I could be mistaken about that.

Check out the poster after the jump (click to enlarge).]]> Yahoo has got the exclusive on the new Iron Man 2 teaser poster, showing off not only Tony Stark’s Iron Man suit, but Rhodey’s shiny new War Machine armor. The poster sure is a pretty piece of marketing; it’s simple, but effective. It does make me wonder just how much of War Machine we’ll see though. Based on the footage that’s been released, I’d guess that he doesn’t come in until close to the climactic and inevitable battle at the end, though the poster certainly wants to suggest more of a tag-team tandem than we may actually end up getting. I guess we’ll see.

Still, a statue would be a fitting reward for over two decades of memorable performances, and Bridges looks to have turned in a mighty powerful one here. He pulls double duty by also supplying some vocals for the soundtrack, which country crooner T Bone Burnett contributed some original music to and co-produced.

A trailer and poster have been released for writer-director Scott Cooper’s Crazy Heart, a film that has been drawing a lot of comparisons to last year’s The Wrestler lately and has been building some serious Oscar buzz for Jeff Bridges early in this awards season.

Bad Blake is a broken-down, hard-living country music singer who’s had way too many marriages, far too many years on the road and one too many drinks way too many times. And yet, Bad can’t help but reach for salvation with the help of Jean, a journalist who discovers the real man behind the musician. Bad also becomes the mentor to a contemporary country star, Tommy Sweet, while simultaneously struggling in the rising young crooner’s shadow.

Maggie Gyllenhaal plays Jean and Colin Farrell is Tommy Sweet, with Robert Duvall co-starring as Blake’s friend Wayne Kramer. That’s a hell of a supporting cast. From the trailer, it looks like Gyllenhaal may earn herself some Oscar accolades as well. We get only a glimpse of Farrell in character, but frankly he can probably ride the wave of good feeling from his In Bruges performance to the end of the decade. Regardless, I’m intrigued by this one off the strength of Bridges alone. Solid performances around him only add icing to the cake.

Fox Searchlight will release Crazy Heart on December 16th in select cities to make it eligible for Academy consideration.

The movie follows a woman (Adams) who decides to take matters into her own hands after the four year anniversary with her steady boyfriend (Adam Scott) comes and goes without the marriage proposal she was expecting. Taking advantage of her boyfriend’s upcoming trip to Dublin, she decides to follow him there and make use of an Irish tradition where women are allowed to propose to men on February 29th. Trouble arises, however, when a thunderstorm diverts her plane to Wales and she must rely on a roguish native (Matthew Goode) to help get her across the country in time.

As if we didn’t already have a pretty clear idea of what’s going to happen from the synopsis, the trailer insists on filling in the few gaps we have. Isn’t trying to figure out what happens next a big incentive for watching movies? Despite the trailer leaving nothing up to the imagination though, there are still a few reasons I want to see this movie. For one, Amy Adams is so good that I’ll pretty much watch her in anything (I’m a fan of Matthew Goode and Adam Scott, too). Anand Tucker directs this one, and he’s done some decent work in the past – Shopgirl and Hilary and Jackie, to name a couple. Aside from Adams however, the bit that seems to hint most at hidden potential is that the screenplay was written by Simon Beaufoy (whose last foray into romance gave us Slumdog Millionaire) with Harry Belfont and Deborah Kaplan (who were responsible for the fairly bland Made of Honor, but also Can’t Hardly Wait, a movie I have a particular soft spot for). So yeah, I’ll probably end up seeing this. Even if I feel like I already have, having seen the trailer below.

The Kick-Ass ones feature four character posters that compile into one giant awesome banner, while The Wolfman harkens back to its black & white roots with a grainy, spooky shot of Emily Blunt on the run. They’re definitely both pretty neat pieces of movie marketing, and I especially wouldn’t mind the Kick-Ass ones spanning across my apartment walls.

The Kick-Ass ones come courtesy of IGN, and you’ll notice that instead of each actor name branded above the posters, it’s actually their respective character names. To refresh your memory however, it’s Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Chris D’Amico aka Red Mist, Aaron Johnson as Dave Lizewski aka Kick-Ass, Chloe Moretz as Mindy Macready aka Hit Girl, and Nicolas Cage as Damon Macready aka Big Daddy. The buzz has been extremely positive for Kick-Ass thus far, and Matthew Vaughn has proven himself to be a filmmaker fully capable of delivering well-crafted and entertaining escapism. Needless to say, I’m stoked for this one. Kick-Ass hits theaters on April 16, 2010.

The Wolfman is also a film I’m intrigued by, not only because of the classic monster figure at the heart of its tale but by the talented team behind it. It’s got a superb cast, Rick Baker doing the makeup effects, great writers in both Andrew Kevin Walker and David Self, and Joe Johnston at the helm. I feel like Johnston is one of those directors who consistently shows flashes of greatness in his films, but his movies tend to fall just short of being truly fantastic. Johnston’s done good work in the past; he just hasn’t been great yet. And with Captain America on the horizon for him, I’m hoping he hits his stride here. The Wolfman is set for a February 10, 2010 release date.

Mark Strong's some sort of nefarious, perhaps supernatural villain, and Holmes and Watson are on the case? Anyway, they're definitely selling chemistry and style more than anything else, especially between Robert Downey, Jr.'s Holmes and Jude Law's Watson. And you know what? It's enough. It totally works, and I'm ready to get to the theater just to see the two play off of each other.

The trailer finally gives Rachel McAdams something to do, though I still feel like her presence in the movie is being undersold here. Her dry delivery towards the end is one of the best moments in the trailer, and I think she'll be just as integral a piece to Sherlock Holmes' entertainment and success as all the bare-knuckle brawls and one-liners.

Sherlock Holmes is in theaters Christmas Day, 2009.

The first one is a little old, but better late than never right? Richard Linklater's Me and Orson Welles stars Zac Efron, Claire Danes, and Christian McKay, and centers on a young and scrappy actor in the 30's who manages to fanagle his way onto the cast of Welles' stage production of "Julius Caesar." If you haven't already seen the very promising trailer, you can check it out here. Meanwhile, Cinematical debuted the poster a week and a half ago; you can see it below the jump.

The other is the first poster for Invictus, Clint Eastwood's Nelson Mandela-Francois Pienaar drama, starring Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon. The film, once titled The Human Factor, centers on South Africa in 1995, when Mandela allied with Pienaar, the captain of the South African rugby team, to unite and heal his country after the abolishment of apartheid. That year, the underdog team went on an unlikely run to the Rugby World Cup Championship. Check out the poster below the jump as well, courtesy of Yahoo! Movies.

If the trailer looks familiar, it's probably because you've seen pretty much the exact same set up multiple times before. Only this time, instead of a family of spies or Vin Diesel, we get Chan and his requisite kung fu hustling taking center stage. If this is how Mel Gibson is kicking off his comeback tour, count me in for the ride.

The trailer and poster for Gibson’s newest movie Edge of Darkness hit today, and boy does it look like a doozy. You have to go all the way back to 2002’s Signs to find the last time he headlined a feature film, but if the trailer is any indication, I would say Gibson’s star is far from done shining brightly. Casino Royale director Martin Campbell is steering the ship this time, with a script by The Departed writer William Monahan. We’re back in Boston for this gritty crime thriller, the hometown of Monahan, and I think the screenwriter’s already proved sufficiently he knows how to spin a yarn in that city.

The story follows Gibson as a detective whose activist daughter is killed on the doorstep of their home. Grieving over her death and the bullet he believes was intended for him, he soon uncovers darker and bigger powers at play than he ever imagined.
