New International ROBIN HOOD Trailer Has Better, More Stuff by Roy on 21 Dec 2009 | Comments A new international trailer for Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood has hit over at Yahoo’s UK site, and it’s a great deal more revealing/intriguing/well put-together than the first domestic teaser we caught a week ago. I guess not everything is better with a generic metal soundtrack. Anyway, in the new trailer we get lots more archery and a better look at the role Maid Marian will play. What is it about Cate Blanchett that, despite being 120 pounds soaking wet, makes me believe she could swing a sword with the rest of the boys? Maybe it’s her Australian-ness. I think this deserves further study.

The ROBIN HOOD Teaser Trailer Is Here! by Ryan on 15 Dec 2009 | Comments

Universal has released the teaser trailer for Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood, and it looks like they’re selling it as Gladiator Part II. Lots of epic battle scenes make the cut to the tune of a hard-rocking anthem, and it actually works pretty well. Russell Crowe looks to be in engaged in some full-on Maximus bad-assery, defying kings sheriffs, slaying dudes, and all that whatnot. We don’t see as much of Cate Blanchett as I would’ve liked, so I guess we’ll have to wait until the full trailer for some more Maid Marian.

Australian newspaper The Courier-Mail has also released the first official images from the film. I’ve posted a few of them below, but you can check out the rest by going over to their website. All in all, I’m impressed by what I’m seeing. Scott has proven himself to be more than capable of working with this kind of material, but I’ll admit that I did lose some confidence when early rumors of on-set troubles began to surface. It looks like they’ve put together something promising, though.

Check out the teaser and images below the jump! Apple also has the teaser in HD here.

Ridley Scott’s GUCCI Coming To Screen With Leonardo DiCaprio And Angelina Jolie? by Ryan on 22 Oct 2009 | Comments

It’s been some time since we last heard about the Gucci movie, which was set to be directed by Ridley Scott and focus on the story of Maurizio Gucci, grandson to Guccio Gucci, founder of the fashion company empire. After much internal strife within the family, Maurizio emerged as the head of the company in the early 1990s. In 1995, on the eve of his boldest move yet as company head — the debut of a new line designed by then-newcomer Tom Ford — he was gunned down by a hired hitman in front of his Milan apartment. His wife, Patrizia, was later convicted for plotting his murder and sentenced to 29 years behind bars.

After much silence, it looks like the project is once again making moves, and big moves at that. Variety reports that Scott is in talks with Angelina Jolie to portray Patrizia Gucci. A new writer is also being hired to work on Charles Randolph (The Interpreter, Love and Other Drugs)’s original draft of the screenplay, which, in addition to exploring Maurizio’s tale, captures the glamor and intrigue of the company’s glory days in the 70s and 80s when it moved $500 million in product annually.

QH&SB 10/16/09: WICHITA, Terrence Malick, And A Host Of New Projects by Ryan on 16 Oct 2009 | Comments

There’s been a lot going on this week in the QH&SB realm of news! A few current projects undergo some changes, and a host of new projects get underway.

First up is James Mangold’s Wichita, starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. The film has changed it’s rather ambiguous title to the still pretty ho-hum Knight & Day. Peter Sarsgaard, Viola Davis, Olivier Martinez, Paul Dano, Maggie Grace and Mark Blucas also co-star. [via Variety]

The Tourist, which was set to star Cruise at one point, has shuffled its female lead. Charlize Theron has vacated the role and Angelina Jolie has stepped in. Sam Worthington has already been announced as the lead. [via THR's Risky Biz Blog]

If you’ve ever wondered why we haven’t seen a sequel for Independence Day yet, Latino Review got a chance to speak with director Roland Emmerich about it. Hit the jump to find out what he had to say, and what Will Smith has to do with all of it.
